Huntington Gardens Part III: Into the Jungle

After the dry heat of the desert (cactus and succulent gardens) the dark, wet coolness of the subtropical gardens was inviting and refreshing.

A stream runs through the gardens, forming waterfalls, lily ponds and grottos.

Papyrus.

An Argentinian ombu tree. The bottom dark area is one massive trunk that stores water.

Ficus trees.

Clump of mondo grass growing in a tiny patch of light filtered down through the ficus trees.

A gnarly trunk looking like an old troll.

Eucalyptus bark.
